ACMF Giving Tuesday

Dear Friends,

At this most challenging time in the Caribbean, especially following devastating hurricanes of 2017, the region needs a hand-up. More than ever before, we need to ensure that there are educational opportunity to empower folks to be able to help themselves, and ways to sustain Caribbean economies.

And, education is the best way to a promising and sustainable future.

That's why we are reaching out asking you to support our end-of-year drive by participating in #GivingTuesday (November 28th), a global day dedicated to giving.  Your support helps us provide scholarships for students preparing to work on ships, not only as hospitality support, but as engineers and captains.

Join the drive and help us meet our #GivingTuesday goal of $5,000!

More than 60% of the world’s cruise and cargo ships traverse the Caribbean sea and yet only a very small fraction of a percent of Caribbean people work on these ships.  These jobs are vital to not only the individuals but to decreasing the double-digit number of unemployment across the region because shipping has the potential to transform the economies in the Caribbean.

Here's how you can transform lives on #GivingTuesday:

  1. Donate on November 28th. Your contribution will go toward a scholarship to a very needy student.
  2. To maximize donations, the ACMF will take advantage of the Facebook and Bill & Melinda Gates #GivingTuesday matching program. Donate through Facebook to contribute to scholarships, including for students displaced by the recent hurricanes in the Caribbean, and help increase the number of women in the maritime sector in the Caribbean.
  3. Retweet and share our fundraiser links and posts throughout the day to your social media network. Share your vision for how to empower Caribbean students and give them a future.

Though, we will continue to raise funds through the end of the year, we hope to have a strong launch on November 28th. Your support and donation will ensure that we’re able to do this.

Warm regards,
Geneive Brown Metzger, Founder and President

P.S. Creating a stronger, more resilient Caribbean means having an educated labor force to take up higher paying jobs. If you share our vision for a truly independent and sustainable Caribbean, we hope you'll join us by supporting our work. Thank you in advance for your support!
